The Creature Chapter 9 is the nineth chapter of the The Creature (Web Novel).

Plot[]

Shhhhhh. The refreshing water swept over the girl's entire body and seeped into the floor with a clear sound. The black-haired girl, Kana, who had been washing her body by pouring water on her head, suddenly tilted her head and looked around. Kana asked ...huh. For a moment, just for a moment, Kana felt as if someone was watching her. However, there was no sign of anyone around Kana. Kana asked she's imagining something. Kana snickered. The people currently with her were members of the 3rd templars, an elite unit in the Holy Religion State of Harrell. Among them, no one would dare come and peek at the bathing scene of Kanarea Sazón, who was revered as a Saint. Besides, even if the templar got a lot of guts, he wouldn't be able to put it into action. The goddess watching over her servants everywhere. So the templars must never show themselves disheveled or out of order as a templar! For the eyes of the Holy One, not of man, were watching them! Well, Kana don't know if the goddess was actually looking down on you or if she's rolling around on the floor, but at least for a templar, that level of faith was a prerequisite. Kana poured water over herself again and put the water bottle down on the floor. Kana said oh, it's cold, oh, the goddess was looking down on her, surely she wouldn't be looking at a girl's body, there were so many handsome bachelors around... Kana grabbed her hair and twisted it, talking nonchalantly about being struck by lightning. It was Kana's black hair, beautiful and shiny, and the envy of others. Kana wrung it out like a floor mop. Kana said whoosh. The water came out with a slosh sound. It was the perfect thing to damage Kana's hair. But Kana didn't hesitate at all. Kana thought so what, it wasn't her hair to begin with. Under the pretext of 'God loves beautiful things', the Divine Plastic Surgery spells that had been steadily developed for thousands of years had developed to the point where they could change the appearance of humans. Even apprentice priests and exorcists could easily do things that made their hair look better. The only problem was that they were 'only for themselves'. Kana thought it's a funny story, in the course of a thousand years, practically all powerful spells disappeared, and most divine spells were just empty shells. And yet, the plastic surgery spells continued to develop day and night? Kana really wanted to praise the achievements of the old sages. Kana thought well anyway... After roughly removing the moisture from her hair, Kana straightened her knees and got up. Kana stood in front of a long mirror located in one corner of the tent and looked at herself. Kana thought a Saint... A girl's naked body floated above the silver water. The girl's beauty was attractive enough to be liked by anyone who saw her, and she even felt somehow sacred, and her body was perfect underneath. Looking at the beautiful girl reflected in the mirror, Kana sneered. Kana thought how she can have such impure thoughts. Kana's attitude of daring to talk about a pretty boy to a goddess was definitely not befitting of a Saint. Kana knew that well. Even when she was young, Kana hated things like catechism. Kana often fell asleep during mass and couldn't memorize even one decent Bible verse. And even now that she was 16, Kana's attitude hadn't changed much. Kana thought but a Saint. Kana turned her eyes away from the mirror. Kana put on the pure white exorcist uniform that was placed nearby, and looked at an object on the table. The red knuckles that was glowing faintly under the dim flame, Blairs Taina. It was the item that elevated Kana from a mere apprentice exorcist to the unprecedented status of a Saint, and gave her such beauty as a bonus. Kana thought tsk, where she would find a Saint who wore such an ignorant item. Kana quietly caressed her knuckles. The high-ranking members of the sect, the Bible researchers, and even the elders couldn't figure out the origin of this item. The only thing they did figure out was that there were five great Magic Swords in the old continent, and one of them was named Blairs Taina? But that doesn't seem to be the case... Anyone can tell that this was a knuckle, not a sword. Even if Kana give it a step back and say that it was originally a sword and then changed, its abilities were too different from the records. The summary description of the five great Magic Swords was 'the weapon of the Elder Dragons that absorbs the user's mana and redistributes it into magic'. However, this knuckle never absorbed Kana's mana. Kana thought there's not much mana to absorb either. Furthermore, considering that there were records of many secret struggles over the five great Magic Swords and that their owners changed several times, the similarities become even less apparent. This knuckle only exerted its power in Kana's hands. Kana thought well, that's why she became a Saint, otherwise she would have been taken away by the sect. Kana sighed. Kana sighed whew... It was an unknown power. Right now, she could use it as she pleased, but she didn't know when or what would happen. Even though Kana had gained great power, she was not happy, but rather anxious. Kana said she's tired. Kneeling, Kana rested her chin on the table. Kana's flowing hair covered the table. In that state, Kana shook her knuckles with her fingers and muttered quietly. Kana asked what's this. That was when. Someone shouted ughhhhhh. A faint sound, but to Kana's ears, like thunder, could be heard outside the tent curtain. It was a human scream.

Kana heard a scream. A rumbling sound faintly echoed from outside the barracks. Along with the faint sound of horses neighing, a red fire light was projected onto the tent. Kana shouted oh, no. Kana quickly put on the Blairs Taina on both hands without a moment's hesitation. This was the campsite of the 3rd templars, who risked their lives in the distribution industry for the better lives of the people of the Holy Religion State of Harrell and were tasked with guarding them. On the outside, it was just a quiet open space in the prairie and dozens of tents, but in reality, it was a remote area where danger could strike at any time. What if there was an unexpected scream at a time when Kana should have been sleeping soundly in her bed, exhausted from the journey? Kana wasn't foolish enough to not notice such an obvious situation. Kana thought monster, no, if it was a monster, there would be no way it would make such a fuss, the templars could handle it easily. Kana quickly shook off her thoughts. Then, pulling back the curtain, Kana calmly asked outside. Kana asked what's going on. One of the guards standing guard near the barracks bowed his head as if embarrassed. The guard answered uh, it's creatures... The guard tried to look brave, but the tip of his spear was already shaking. Kana frowned. Kana thought as expected... It was the answer Kana had expected. Kana had hoped it wouldn't be. Kana clenched her fists. It was time for Kana to step forward.

Kana was running across the meadow at a fast speed like a shot arrow. Things around Kana disappeared behind her before she could even see them. With each step she took, the ground cracked and lifted the girl's slender body into the air. Less than a minute later, Kana was face to face with the creatures who had created this mayhem. It was a temporary outpost north of the campsite, beyond the dark grassland. There were 'things' that hid themselves in the darkness, their red eyes flashing, leisurely passing through the templars. a creature growled krrr... Another creature shouted kaaah. Under the moonlight, the rough gray fur fluttered, and the four legs kicked the ground elastically, biting the human in one breath and splitting him in two. They swung their swords and stabbed their spears, but they easily jumped more than 33 feet (10 meters) and blocked the moonlight from the humans' sight. Eventually, when the huge curtain of darkness fell on the templars, their firm faith disappeared and only screams that were extremely true to the natural emotions of humans erupted. A templar shouted eww. The horses that had lost their masters galloped across the meadow in fear. The templars were covered in blood under their cruel teeth and firm forelegs. Thud! A dull impact sound rang out. Blood spurted from the neck of a templar who had been bravely charging forward in a spear stance. A round object flew up in an arc in the air. The sound was unrealistic, almost comical, to Kana. Thud, roll... Fifty elite templars who had gone through endless hardships and were tough again. The templars were dying in vain without even being able to fight back. Kana clenched her teeth at the sight of that miserable sight. Kana said they're Ryukoids... Ryukoid. A mid-level creature classified as level 7 in the creature encyclopedia, which was divided into 15 levels. Ryukoid's appearance was simply a gray wolf. However, despite Ryukoid's appearance being similar to a wolf, there's a reason why it's called by another name. Kana looked at it now and shuddered. The Ryukoid's huge body that's as tall as a human's eye level and the cunning light that flashed through the two red eyes make it impossible to treat them as ordinary wolves. The true form of that beast was a creature, a creature with a body that far surpasses that of a human and a rationality that can learn systematic fighting methods, a creature with intelligence beyond human beings. In addition, the truly scary thing was that Ryukoid was incomparably stronger than a wolf, and it moved in packs like a wolf. That was then. A templar shouted eww. A single scream broke Kana's thoughts. Now Kana wasn't the time to just sit back and watch. Whether Kana suited her or not, she's a Saint. Everyone believed that Kana will save them. Kana must fulfill the responsibility that came with the name of 'Saint' that she carried. Whether Kana wanted it or not. Kana shouted everyone, they should step back. A templar asked Saint Kana. Another templar shouted oh, Kana was a Saint. The other templar shouted Saint Kana has arrived, everyone, cheer up. Expectations and praises filled the joyful shouts. Kana thought ugh, it's burdensome. Barely raising her shoulders that felt like they were being crushed, Kana jumped between the templars and creatures. Perhaps out of caution about the newly appeared enemy, the Ryukoids stopped slaughtering for a moment. The Ryukoids all lowered their postures and began to glare at Kana. A Ryukoid growled errr... Another Ryukoid growled krr... Under the beautiful moonlit night in the quiet meadow, a girl and a dozen or so beasts were glaring at each other like that.

The first to fly was Kana. Kana shouted taat. Kana was still young and couldn't bear this pressure for long. However, annoyingly, the Ryukoids quickly scattered in all directions. Thanks to that, Kana's attack just flew through the air without targeting it. Kana thought oops. It was a weak point that was blatantly exposed when Kana wasn't enough to check it. The Ryukoids never missed this. The Ryukoids shouted kaaaah. A Ryukoid's sharp teeth flashed in the moonlight and rushed forward. A Ryukoid's a huge mouth that could split the girl's slender waist in two with one bite. Kana flew up in surprise. Grass and dust rose up. Kana rolled on the ground in a hurry. After that, attacks continued to came Kana after another. When Kana pulled back to avoid the front paws that were as big as an adult's cushion that were slamming down relentlessly, flashing teeth awaited her, and when she barely avoided them, sharp claws tried to tear her apart this time. Kana groaned ugh, ughhh. Kana ground her teeth. The Ryukoids were truly lethal. The Ryukoids use all sorts of vile methods like combined attacks, joint attacks, and wheeled battles, even when they're dealing with a girl who's less than a third of their size? Of course, being mean meant being effective, and thanks to that, Kana had to run around without being able to make a proper attack. Kana could feel deep in her bones that her opponent was a creature, a being with intelligence. Well, Kana's bones were actually numb because she had been beaten here and there. Kana thought it can't be like that time. Although she couldn't be recognized because there was no evidence, Kana was definitely a dragon slayer. Kana had defeated even the strongest creatures classified as special, so in theory, she should be able to easily defeat mid-level creatures like this. However, reality didn't go as planned. If only Kana could go crazy and beat them up like that, but her mind was as clear as ever. Kana looked at the knuckles on both hands in embarrassment. Kana thought how she can lose her mind like that time.
